JBI is capable of the float service and cycle testing required by the telecommunications and standby power industries. We have extensive experience with VRLA or sealed lead acid batteries and cells. Using temperature controlled hot air rooms, HP precision DC power supplies and data logging equipment, we can float and monitor strings or individual batteries as they undergo accelerated float or life testing. Air conditioned chambers are also available for cycling at controlled ambient temperatures. For testing that requires more frequent charge and discharging, we use our cycling circuits from 25 to 300 amperes, maximum 18 volts that are available. These are fully programmable by PC and will record all data.
UPS String Testing
A load bank with IKW minimum load step resolution couples with a UPS system and 40 battery cabinet allows string charging - floating with up to 125 KW discharges. Interunit connections are made with 500 kcmil 90o C copper cables to minimize voltage drop. A 1000:1 voltage divider and a 500 amp/100 millivolt shunt allow for string voltage and current data logging.Other tests commonly performed on this type of battery are: Gassing, Thermal Shock, Explosion and Vibration.
We are familiar with Telcordia, JIS and IEC specifications that deal with these types of batteries or cells.
JBI offers DOT/IATA testing for spill proof batteries. This includes vibration, pressure differential, and 130o F (54o C) leakage tests.
